Was going to take my boards to Levington for abit of longboard cruising but the tide not brilliant, the wind too light and still had abit of a cold so we decided after breakfast at home to do the Martlesham Circular Walk :)
We packed some home made soup for lunch and parked up in front of the Martlesham 'Black Tiles' and set off across the common toward Tesco's and on to Walk Farm Wood which was a long stretch of lovelly woodland :)
After a short section of road we headed past Hill Farm which was ploughed fields and sheep grazing in the cabbage !!! We then made it to the beginning of Martleshan Creek on the River Deben with Kyson Point on the opposite bank with Woodbridge just up the river !!! Mag and I stopped here for soup lunch watching the many birds including a egret which flew right over us :) We walked the length of the creek which would have been even better if there was a blue sky but sadly just more Suffolk grey :( to the boat yard/marina by the sluice.Passing through Sluice Wood to the Martlesham Red Lion where we went wrong, walking along the River Fynn under the railway bridge to the A12 but this was a great detour as the Fynn was fantastic a fast flowing stream unusual for Suffolk which has been taken on by a flyfishing club who have done alot of work forming pools in the river for trout the lay !!! so good luck to them.
We retraced our steps back to the Red Lion and found the right path and finished the walk in Run Meadow alongside Butlers Brook where we saw yet another lama !!! and back to the van knackered :)
I finished the day watching England beat Scotland (just) in the rugby poor game really :( but another top weekend even if the weather was not great.
